Prof Charles Feldman currently serves as a Distinguished Professor of Pulmonology in the Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of the Witwatersrand. He obtained his MB BCh degree at the University of the Witwatersrand, in Johannesburg, South Africa and subsequently received his FCP(SA), PhD, FRCP and DSc.

He is a member of several national and international societies and has been President of the South African Thoracic Society on two previous occasions. His major research interest is community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), especially pneumococcal pneumonia.

He has more than 380 publications in books, book chapters, and in indexed peer-reviewed journals. In 2018 Prof Feldman received the Platinum Medal of the Medical Research Council of SA for his “outstanding lifetime scientific achievement in the field of health”.

Prof Ivan Fan Ngai Hung currently serves as a Ru Chien and Helen Lieh Endowed Professor in Health Sciences Pedagogy, Professor of Medicine, and Assistant Dean (Admissions) at The University of Hong Kong. He is also the Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, and an Honorary Consultant at the Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong.

He has dual specializations in Infectious Diseases, and Gastroenterology and Hepatology and has published over 325 international peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals such as Nature and the Lancet on topics including antiviral treatment, vaccinology, and respiratory virus research.

Prof Hung has received numerous awards for his work, including the Anti-SARS gold badge award, Sir Patrick Manson Gold Medal Award, Richard Yu Lectureship and Medal, and the Outstanding Researcher Award from the University of Hong Kong.
